Troubleshooting
Recover access, handle incomplete archives, and protect your working copies.
An archive is marked unavailable
Check whether the original file still exists, reconnect external drives, and make cloud files available offline. Use Select Again… in File Access if the path or permission has changed. Use Check Again afterward. Removing a recent record does not delete or recover the file.
A drop does nothing
The source must provide a file URL or a macOS file promise. Save an attachment to Finder first if its app only offers a web link or text. Confirm the extension is supported and the file is downloaded locally, then try the native Open dialog. See opening archives.
A password or checksum error appears
Confirm the password, including case and whitespace, with the sender. A checksum error can also mean an incomplete download or a damaged part. Get a fresh copy when possible. ezarchive cannot recover a forgotten password or reconstruct missing volume data.
A split archive will not open
Keep every part in one folder with its original name. Open the first part and grant access to the containing folder if needed. Check that all parts finished downloading.
Extraction stops
Check available space, destination access, the configured size limit, and the archive’s integrity. A path-safety rejection should not be bypassed by blindly disabling protections. Ask the sender for a safely structured copy.
An external edit is missing
Saving in an editor changes the extracted working copy. Confirm you also completed the explicit save-back operation in ezarchive. Check Show Preview Files in Settings before the temporary session is cleaned up, and save important work outside that directory.
