Choose the access you need

The first-launch introduction is optional. ezarchive uses macOS file and folder pickers, drag-and-drop access, and local security-scoped bookmarks. It does not need Full Disk Access or Accessibility permission for its archive workflow.

Open File Access to see saved locations and their current status. Use Choose File… for an archive, or Choose Folder… when a task needs a containing folder, such as reading split volumes or safely updating an archive. Choose the narrowest folder that contains the files you want to use.

If you decline or lose access

You can continue using other files. For the affected item, use Select Again… to reselect it in the system picker, then Check Again. If macOS has denied access to a protected location, the File Access view can take you to System Settings; only you can change that system permission.

An unavailable archive does not always mean a deleted file. Reconnect an external drive, make a cloud file available locally, or reselect a moved archive before removing its record.

Startup checks and recent archives

At startup, ezarchive checks saved archive locations. Items that are missing, need access, or are on an unavailable volume are shown with an appropriate status.

Automatic cleanup of missing recent records is off by default and can be enabled in Settings. It removes records from the recent list; it does not delete archive files. Access failures and temporarily unavailable disks should be resolved before treating an item as missing.

Forget access

Use Forget in File Access, or the relevant Settings controls, to clear stored access and recent entries. macOS grants already active in the current process may remain available until you quit the app. This does not delete the original files.
